I am a therapist in private practice with a passion for helping families experiencing conflict caused by issues that impede their ability to connect emotionally with each other. I am a Clinical Social Worker and Family Therapist, having received my Masters of Social Work from McGill University in 1985 and my Clinical Social Worker designation from the Alberta College of Social Workers in 1986. I have practiced in Mental Health Services and Family Service settings, as well as 28 years in private practice. In 2005 I was awarded the Social Worker of Distinction by the Alberta College of Social Workers.
My practice includes the provision of individual, marital, and family therapy for adults and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral problems. I focus on a variety of issues, including depression, emotional attachment, relationships, and sexuality. I have dealt extensively with parent-teen conflict, parenting issues, and situations involving violence and abuse. I have also worked extensively with couples, assisting them in addressing unresolved issues from their individual or collective past and present, including family of origin issues, abuse issues, and current conflicting needs.
I completed Internships in Strategic and Systemic Family Therapy in Calgary, Alberta, at both the Holy Cross and Foothills Hospitals. I am an approved provider of psychological services, serving the Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans Affairs, Edmonton Police Service, RCMP, Alberta Medical Association, and First Nations Medical Services.
